ASA Championship meet
Good Morning Oxford Milll Swim Team Families,
The deadline for the ASA Championship meet is rapidly approaching. If you would like to swim in the end of season meet, you need to sign up by Sunday, June 13th. Sign up is open under the schedule tab on the website. On June 14th, after I submit the meet entries, we will find out if we swim on Friday, June 25th or Saturday, June 26th. We will also find out if we are the morning or afternoon session. The morning session is from 9-12:30 with warmup starting before 9. The afternoon session is from 3:30-7 with warm up starting before 3:30. The ASA Championship takes place at the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center in Atlanta. We will be competing against 8-12 other teams, so it is a bigger meet than our usually ones during the season. Due to covid, no fans will be allowed in the building to watch the meet. This means that only coaches, swimmers, and volunteers will be allowed into the building to watch the meet. If you don't get one of the limited volunteer positions in the meet, then you will need to be comfortable with dropping your kid off with the coaches at Georgia Tech and returning to pick them up 4-5 hours later. We encourage everyone to sign up for the meet because it is a great experience and it includes a lot of fast swimming and fun. However, due to the set up this year of the meet, we also understand if you don't want your swimmer participating in the meet.
Following the end of the season, there is a way for your kid to keep swimming over the summer for another team called JCAT. The Johns Creek Aquatic Team will have a similar practice schedule as the one we had this summer and will end the season at the end of July with a big meet competing against other cities in Georgia. I will attach the information about this team down below.
I know that this is a lot of information, so please take your time and read through all of it. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out.
Go Stingrays!
